Bildarchiv Kaprun Museum
Dieses Bildarchiv wird demnächst durch eine von der Gemeinde Kaprun betriebene Topothek ersetzt, in der Zwischenzeit wünschen wir Ihnen viel Freude beim Betrachten der Bilder von Oberlehrer Rauch, welcher in den 1920er und 30er Jahren in Kaprun gewirkt und das Leben und die Leute mit seiner Kamera verewigt hat.
Beim Wasen- bzw. Torfstechen sieht man den Hauserbauer Höller Josef im Kapruner Moos. Da es zu wenig Streu für die Ställe gab, begann man Torf auszustechen und zu trocknen. Danach wurde es zermahlen und als Einstreu verwendet. Ein kleiner Reißwolf, der durch ein Wasserrad mit breiten Schaufeln angetrieben wurde, zerriss die trockenen Torfziegel zu Torfmull. Ein eigenes Gleis führte vom Stich zur Mühle, die sich an der Kapruner Ache befand, ungefähr auf Höhe Tauern-Spa-Zufahrt. Die Arbeit wurde übrigens von Männern aus dem Armenhaus durchgeführt. Diese Art der Streuproduktion bewährte sich aber nicht und wurde 1920 wieder aufgelassen. Später kaufte der Wagnermeister Bschellinger die Mühle und baute sie neben seiner Werkstätte auf, wo sie heute noch steht (neben Modehaus Moreau).
